PALM OIL ACTIONS: AUSTRALIA 2009
Palm Oil Action

ACTION SUCCESS!

WOOLIES HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WILL LABEL ALL PALM OIL IN THEIR OWN BRAND PRODUCTS WITHIN TWO YEARS AND THAT THEY WILL SWITCH TO 100% CSPO BY 2015. See their announcement here.

KFC ARE SWITCHING TO A HEALTHIER BLEND OF CANOLA-SUNFLOWER OIL FOR COOKING! They have already rolled this out to some stores and predict that it will be rolled out to all stores by 2012.

On the back of our 2009 campaigns we had success with both Woolworths and KFC. Whilst neither of them are moving as quickly as we would like, at least they are moving, and moving in the right direction.

We would recommend that people still email and call them so that they know that we are not going away - we might even see a quicker outcome.

Curious about what we we actually did? See a clip of one of our KFC actions here and check out the photos below.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

We still need to keep the pressure up and spread awareness of the Palm Oil issue - we are on the look out for more passionate organisers that we can fully support in a consumer action.

If you would like to organise an Action anywhere in Australia please contact our Australian Campaign Coordinator, Anasuya Claff, on 0431 779 644 or at anasuya@palmoilaction.org.au.

We also have wonderful stickers for people to stick to the products of the big offenders - see our 2010 Action Alert for more information.

JUNE 2009: PERTH

Amanda, Jodie and Sue did a wonderful job organising a letter writing stall in Fremantle. The thanks they got from the local populace was overwhelming - people were grateful that we were standing up for the forests and the Orangutan.....well done ladies, the letters that you collected say it all!

DECEMBER 2008: THE NORTHERN RIVERS

See a clip of the action here.

REMEMBER: Palm Oil is not good for the Orangutans and it's not good for us! We have the power to change corporate buying habits - the choice is truly ours.
